Ever wonder why Laika looks a bit puzzled and a tad frothy in the picture? Well, it’s because she got a new toy this week.
At my local grocery store, they had a display full of bubble-making machines. Before I knew it, one had found its way into my cart. Living in a rural area, excitement for me (like bubbles) might be different from what thrills you.
It’s like my grocery store knows me too well and my love for bubbles…
Despite her arthritis, Laika can still chase bubbles effortlessly. Normally, we play indoors on the carpet to reduce impact, but this week, I decided to take our bubble fun outside.
So far, so good. She hasn’t shown any signs of pain or limping. However, I had to store the bubble machine in the garage because she started staring and whining at it all day.
Enough about bubbles. Let’s get to what you’re really here for – a roundup of amazing dog stories from the past week. From rethinking the alpha dog theory to a new non-invasive spay/neuter technique, here are my favorite dog articles of the week.

Millions of animals are euthanized each year, and spaying/neutering is crucial to combating this issue. There’s a new research grant aimed at developing a non-surgical method for sterilizing pets.
