Easy Pumpkin & Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Are you on the hunt for a simple and delicious dog treat recipe? These pumpkin and peanut butter dog treats are a top pick of mine. They’re super easy to make and bake quickly, which my dog absolutely loves since anything with pumpkin or peanut butter is a hit with her.
Pumpkin & Peanut Butter Dog Treats Recipe
Ingredients:
You only need three ingredients for these treats:
– 2 cups of flour
– 1 cup of canned pumpkin (I use Libby’s 100% canned pumpkin)
– 1/2 cup of peanut butter (I go for Crazy Richard’s natural peanut butter, chunky or creamy works fine)
Important Note About Peanut Butter:
Always ensure the peanut butter you use doesn’t contain xylitol, an artificial sweetener that is toxic to dogs. Check this list to see which brands include xylitol to keep your pet safe.
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
2. In a large bowl, mix the pumpkin and peanut butter until well combined.
3. Gradually stir in the flour to form a dough.
4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface.
5. Use your favorite cookie cutter to cut the dough into shapes.
6. Place the cut out treats on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about half an inch apart.
7. Bake for 12 minutes in your preheated oven.
8. Let the treats cool before storing them in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh for up to a week, and you can freeze any extras for later.
If you don’t have cookie cutters, get creative! You can use a knife to cut shapes, the top of a shot glass for circles, or even make your own cookie cutters out of a soda can.
This recipe yields about three baking sheets worth of treats. Using a 3-inch cookie cutter, you’ll end up with roughly 60 treats.
